The most experienced developers in Uganda’s tech ecosystem started out over 20 years ago, but we only began to see real growth in the industry 10 years ago. This is evident in the age group data, with 85.5% lying between the ages of 18 and 30. Even with a slowly rising growth curve, the ecosystem is faced with several challenges and this has never been more evident than it is now.
How can we unlock more opportunities in Uganda’s tech community?
Before we dive into any technical issues that need to be addressed in order to better grow Uganda’s tech community, we need to understand that making technology work is up to each of us. Individually, through how we work, how we adapt to change and our different social behavior, we have the power to enable and ease the penetration of technology, thus unlocking opportunities for the industry in Uganda.
As a destination for entrepreneurs, creating a destination that grows companies that are centered around solving the biggest industry and community challenges is at the core of our goals. It is therefore important for us to grow the tech community and encourage more innovations around technology. We have recently made internal additions to our Technology team and from our interactions with the tech communities across the regions, we are working on exciting programs to further unlock and enable potential amongst our Tech Community.
Enabling an environment that supports and encourages innovations in technology. Through our different locations across the country, we are deliberately creating an environment that encourages more innovations around the tech sector.
Collaboration. We understand and value the power of relationships. Therefore, part of what we are fronting for the tech community this year is collaborative engagements, through our different sessions both physically and online.
Supporting the development of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Innovation Village is a destination for you to bring your ideas to life. We have put in place different ventures and programs to support such innovations and see them through to fruition.
Initiate collaborative relationships with potential partners and funders. Through services like the the My Village platform, we are bringing you closer to partners and potential funders for your innovations.
Advisory Services. As a member of our tech community, you can sure count on us for advisory services and guidance, mentorship among others.
